The EES:

  • modernises and improves border management through secure and reliable electronic registers, enabling the automation of control procedures;

  • improves the travel experience, progressively reducing waiting times thanks to automated border controls;

  • contributes to preventing irregular immigration by identifying irregular residents and providing reliable data on entry, exit and refusal of entry;

  • strengthens the internal security of the Schengen area by combating identity theft and document forgery through the use of biometric data and supporting competent authorities in the prevention, detection and investigation of acts of terrorism and other serious crimes. home-affairs.europe

Passenger Guide

Safety rules

To ensure the highest standards of civil aviation safety, all passengers departing from European Union airports, including those traveling on domestic flights, are subject to the controls and provisions provided for by current European legislation and the National Civil Aviation Security Program adopted by ENAC. ENAC indicates that these measures concern flight safety and airport security.enac+1

Users are therefore invited to collaborate with the staff in charge of security checks, contributing to the correct conduct of operations and the protection of airport security. During the checks, passengers must show their boarding pass and follow the instructions provided by the security operators, depositing the required items in the appropriate containers.enac.gov+1

If the control equipment detects anomalies or the presence of metal elements, it may be required to undergo further checks, including the possible removal of footwear or the repetition of checks, in accordance with the procedures provided for by the sector regulations. ENAC also points out that, at the airport, passengers must follow the instructions of the staff and show up with the time required by the company or the airport manager.enac.gov+1

For safety reasons, it is strictly forbidden to transport luggage, packages or items belonging to other people without knowing for sure what they contained. Similarly, passengers are required to keep their carry-on baggage under their supervision at all times and not to abandon or separate it from it while at the airport.enac.gov+1

We thank you in advance for the collaboration and understanding that you will grant to the airport staff if additional checks or the opening of hand luggage for the checks required by security procedures are necessary. enac.gov
