38 thousand passengers in transit from Trapani Birgi airport.

From the end of March, with the beginning of the Summer, a significant increase in international flights
The February data from Vincenzo Florio airport in Trapani Birgi recorded the transit of 38,068 passengers, confirming the growing trend of the airport’s activity. The data, in fact, highlights a plus +27% compared to February last year. Taking into consideration the two-month period January-February 2023, a total of 81,364 passengers passed through the Trapani airport, +41% compared to the same two-month period 2022.

Compared to the years of the pandemic, then, the growth reaches up to three figures with +749% compared to 2021, + 88% compared to 2020. Compared to the reference year 2019, the growth is 20%. There were 378 movements in February, equal to -6% compared to last year but with a higher load factor.

The geographical characterization of the Vincenzo Florio traffic

The commercial traffic of the Trapani Birgi airport is almost exclusively of a national nature, being at present Malta the only international scheduled flight, which accounts for 13% of the commercial traffic. From Sunday 26 March, the start date of Summer 2023, international connections with Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, England, Poland, Slovakia and Spain will begin. From June also the one for Portugal.
